Co-op Radio Weekend Fund Drive! Feb 5th to 7th

This weekend at Co-op Radio, we are holding a SPECIAL FUND DRIVE to raise money for the station. We all know how tough it's been for non-profit organizations during this past year, but we can't let that stop us from staying strong and keeping independent media alive. Especially with the Olympics coming, we've seen the important role that alternative media can play in making sure that all voices are heard, and that we can rally together for common causes.

Also, we need folks to pitch in so that we can complete some projects this year such as a new website! That's right, we know everyone has been waiting and dreaming of a website that has podcasting, user-friendly archiving, and easy on-line listening, and we are committed to making it happen in 2010!

So, if you can pitch in (even just a few bucks) this weekend, we can raise enough money to commit the resources needed for this.

Call the station at 604-684-8494 on Friday night, Saturday or Sunday - Feb 5 to the 7th - to pledge.
Or you can email Nicole at outreach@coopradio.org, or become a member or donate online.

Thank you for supporting independent media!!

Listen from Feb 5th through 7th to hear all of our excellent regular programs, plus…
some special programming!

WAKE UP WITH CO-OP on Saturday Feb 6 from 1:30-5pm

Olympics, International issues such as Haiti and Afghanistan, and Canadian economics:
de-industrialization, unemployment, and worker-related issues.

WHAT THE FOLK on Sunday Feb 7 from 4-5:30pm

STIR IT UP! Bob Marley's birthday is February 6th. Join Jim Burnett as he celebrates the immortal sounds of Robert Nesta Marley, reggae pioneer and its major star, activist, pop music master, and "folk music" genius.

2010 will be an exciting year at Co-op Radio!

We will be providing extensive alternative coverage of the 2010 Olympics here in Vancouver. Stay tuned for journalism that reflects the views of the people who live here, not corporate interests.

It is also our 35th Anniversary this spring! So, make sure you listen for updates on events to celebrate the amazing feat of providing community radio for Vancouver from the 1970s right through to 2010 and onwards!
